The Stack you see before you, is the result of a year and a half's worth of impulse buying and perhaps a wee bit of hoarding. Truthfully it's more than that, it's one mans attempt to go all vinyl and to cobble together a collection of the greatest albums of all time
You see the thing is, I just hate CD's. I mean proper despise them. I hate everything about them all the way down to that crappy cellophane wrapping they come in and those shitty plastic cases that may as well be made out of glass. Don't even talk to me about how frustrating digital formats are either, i'm likely to lose my shit. Like i've lost almost every music collection i've ever owned. I can't tell you how comforting it is to wake up in the middle of the night, look to my right and see my record collection. I know if i want to listen to Fat Albert Rotunda all i have to do is flip a lid and drop a needle. My record player is not password protected which is a bit of a novelty these days and requires no streaming or USB connection. The one thing about record players that nobody ever seems to mention is the distinct absence of a pause button. At first it's a nuisance but you learn to just sit down and take the time to listen to an album all the way through with no interruptions. There's no track skipping here sunshine
But sadly plucky readers this story of Man Love Record is not all blue skies. I ladies and gentlemen am a vinyl junkie. That's right, I would sell your TV, yes that's right your TV if i thought i would get "Entroducing DJ shadow" on 12 inch 180 gramm vinyl in return. It's nothing personal i just love vinyl. I love it so much that I even blog about it, well i do now. I'm embarking on a critical review of my entire collection from Abba to Zappa. If you enjoyed this little piece, keep an eye out for the first installment of "The Stack" coming sometime next week
